Sept 4, 2017

Good Morning everyone! Im super excited to write you all this week even though it will be a little shorter!

Division with Elder Armenta: This week I had a division with Elder Armenta, one amazing missionary who is absolutely amazing and we had a lot of fun. We started by playing basetball at the chapel while waiting for our lunch and the kid is an absolute baller. The funniest thing about everything is he reminds me a ton of Elder Kirt McDaniel, he looks like Kirt (A mexican version of Kirt, considering hes from a small colony of Mormons outside of El Paso, TX) plays basketball exactly like kirt, and talks and walks almost exactly the same as well. It actually started to creep me out after a few hours with him, it was so funny. He also speaks fluent english but we didnt speak THAT much english. (At least i tried not to) We had pizza at the end of the day as well it was a very fun and spiritually learning day.

Teaching: We didnt have any real fireworks this week teaching but we prosolyted on Saturday for four hours which was fun! We had stake conference on Sunday, as was great as well with a member of the 70 in attendance and the President and his wife speaking as well. Also our kitchen sink broke this week, I got a haircut, and i recieved a package from my parents (All i have pictures of but our lanhouse here doesnt allow pictures to be sent so i think we gotta wait a few weeks for pictures)

Hope: Hope is the anchor of our existance, hope is found in things such as Confidence, optimism, enthusiasm, and patient perserverance. Hope helps us conquer discouragement. Jeremiah 17:7 speaks on "Blessed is the man that trusteth in the lord, and whose HOPE the lord is." Our sources of Hope may differ depending on person-to-person but generally it is the same:
  1.  1.Jesus Christ (see 1 Timothy 1:1)
  2. The Grace of the Lord (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17)
  3. The Holy Ghost (Romans 15:13)
  4. Scriptures (Romans 15:4)
  5. Faith and Meekness (Moroni 7:40-44)
  6. The ministering of Heavenly beings (D&C 128:21)
For this cause we need to "Endure to the End" continually through these principles. I am grateful for Hope in my mission as it has helped me through my trials and has taught me more about christ.

Well thats all I have for this week! I love and miss you all and the church is true! Until next week!

-Elder Matthew Arscott
